* The commemoration of this event has been always celebrated on February 17, fifteen days after the Presentation in the Temple, fifty five days after the birth of JESUS.

It is sure that the visit of the Wise Men must has taken place AFTER the Presentation in the Temple because the Holy Family left for Egypt in the same night after their departure and therefore JESUS couldn’t have been presented to the Temple, if this had occurred before the Presentation.

The traditional setting of the Christmas manger with the 3 Wise Men is just symbolic because the Wise Men didn’t come to the manger but to “a house ”which  is suggested in Matthew 2:11 where it is written that the Wise Men "entered the house" and not a manger, a proper house that Joseph must have had the time to provide after the birth of JESUS.

I would suggest to pray the Office of Readings in the evening or night or very early at dawn to be prayed at the time when the flight took place.

Also on February 17: the memorial of the Seven Holy Founders of the Order of Servites which used to be celebrated in the old Calendar on February 12.
